25 Most Anitcipated Games of 2010
It seems it is going to be a good year for gaming. 2010 brings along with it another great set of games that people just can’t wait to get their hands on. I know, becasue I am definitely one of those people. And before you ask your self “Hey? What does this guy know?” you should know, I have been playing video games since the Atari days. I. AM. GAMER. I am extremely excited to get my hands on all of these games that I am about to list.
And now, in alphabetical order, these are the most highly anticipated games of 2010.
3D Dot Heroes
Long ago, the Kingdom of Dotnia was threatened by the nefarious Dark King.
A hero rose to the challenge and defeated him. The Dark King was sealed away, but not destroyed. Now, the story has faded into legened, but a new evil threatens the kingdom… Will a new hero appear? Retro chic meets modern sleek in this new action adventure game for Playstaion 3 entertainment system.
Alan Wake
Alan Wake, a bestselling writer, hasn’t managed to write anything in over two years. Now his wife, Alice, brings him to the idyllic small town of Bright Falls to recover his creative flow. But when she vanishes without a trace, Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare. Word by word, his latest work, a thriller he can’t even remember writing, is coming true before his eyes. He somehow knows it’s his story without any memory of writing it.
Bioshock 2
Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original Bioshock, the halls of rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic Coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. You are the very first Big Daddy as you travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city. Chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and your own survival.
Multiplayer in Bioshock 2 provides a rich prequel experience that expands the award winning Bioshock gameplay. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a plasmid test subject in the underwater city that was first explored in the original Bioshock. Players will need to use all the elements of the game’s toolset to survive as the full depth of the Bioshock experience is refined and transformed into a unique mulitiplayer experience that can only be found in rapture.
Brink
Brink™ is an immersive shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character across all modes of play. You decide the role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge for humanity. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more.
Story:
A man-made floating city called the Ark, made up of hundreds of separate floating islands, is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become a refuge for humanity. Crammed with the original Ark founders, their descendants, as well as tens of thousands of refugees, the Ark exists in total isolation from the rest of the world. With 25 years of social unrest, the inhabitants of the Ark have reached their breaking point. It’s up to you to decide the future of the Ark and the human race.
Castlevania – Lords of Shadow
Caslevania is a third person action adventure title with combat, platforming and puzzle elements. The lot of the game is during “the end of days”. A malevolent force known as the Lords of Shadow has threatened the Earth’s alliance with the Heavens. The souls of the dead, as well as evil creatures inhabit the dying land. They attack living people and are making life hard for the commoners of the land. Gabriel Belmont, the main character (voiced by Robert Carlyle) is a member of a elite group known as the Brotherhood of The Light. His wife is brutally murdered, so of course, you are hell bent for revenge.
Dante’s Inferno
Inspired by the real Dante Alighieri, but adapted for a new generation and a new medium, the hero of the game is a soldier who defies death and fights for love against impossible odds. The Italian mercenary Dante returns home from the wars to find that his beloved Beatrice has been murdered, and her soul pulled down into Hell by a dark force. He gives chase, and vows to get her back. For weapons, he wields Death’s soul-reaping scythe, and commands holy powers of the cross, given to him by Beatrice.
Dark Void
Pilot William Augustus Grey crashes in the Bermuda Triangle. He is then teleported to a parallel universe where he comes to meet other humans, called Survivors. Will William and the Survivors must battle an alien race known as the Watchers to return to Earth. The Watchers are from a long distance away, enslaving humans, while being treated as gods. People known as Adepts emerge and help the humans to banish the Watchers to the realm in which our pilot is trapped. With the help of your buddy Nikola Tesla, they reverse engineer Watcher technology to fight the Watchers.
Darksiders
Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War—the first Horseman of the Apocalypse—stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. In the slaughter that ensued, the demonic forces defeated the heavenly hosts and laid claim to the Earth. Brought before the sacred Charred Council, War is indicted for his crimes and stripped of his powers. Dishonored and facing his own death, War is given the opportunity to return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible in Darksiders.
Now, hunted by a vengeful group of Angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vengeance and vindication.
Dead Rising 2
This game is set a few years after the original Dead Rising. The zombie plague has spread all over the United States causing mass hysteria. The game will take place in the fictional city of Fortune City, which in all reality is really Las Vegas, Nevada. The main character is time around is Chuck Greene, who is a former motor cross champion, that is now stuck in the middle of this zombie apocalypse and must fight his way out in order to survive. He must battle through hordes of rotting corpses and sick psychopaths to recues survivors, including his very own daughter.
Diablo 3
Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.
Final Fantasy XIII

God of War 3

Halo: Reach

I Am Alive
Chicago, June 2009. A 10.3 magnitude earthquake destroys the city and shatters your life as an ordinary citizen. Your only way out is to set up a massive refugee camp to hopefully attract rescue’s attention. You will need to find resources and organize survivors to create your headquarters. In the midst of Chicago’s ruins, you’ll have to both preserve and sacrifice in order to survive during 7 days. Rescue, heal, protect, kill, ambush or steal. But first, try staying alive. It could happen to you, so ask yourself: what would you do?

MAG (Massive Action Game)
The game begins in 2025. As time passes, maintaining a full scale military becomes a burden. In a fully globalized world, the only security threat is from small-scale rogue organizations against whom large forces are useless and the fuel needed to supply increasingly mechanized armies becomes more costly.
There is a new global law enforced called the “Millennium Accord” which staes that no nation’s military is permitted to leave its own borders. This is one way of officially creating world peace.
The PMC’s (Private Military Companies) are the way to go now and they are allowed to work for anyone, anywhere.
Factions
The game will contain three different private military company factions:
- Seryi Volk Executive Response (S.V.E.R.): A ragtag military force with personnel drawn from war-torn countries in the Middle East and Russia
- Raven Industries: A faction with high-tech weapons and armor, composed of Central America, and Northern South American regions
- Valor Company: Whose soldiers are equipped with more standard-styled gear. They comprise seasoned veterans from the North Western region of North America.

Max Payne 3
The new game will revolve around a new chapter of Max Payne’s life. “This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever.” said Sam Houser. Max has left New York behind and has “drifted from bad to worse.” The game will be set in São Paulo, where Payne is working in the private security sector for a wealthy local family, set 12 years after the events of the second game. In this new city, Max has been double crossed again and he has to fight to find out the truth and a way out.
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption is a game that is set in 1908 and is about a former outlaw named John Marston. He is sent across the troubled American Frontiers to help bring rule to the law. This game is being described as a western Grand Theft Auto. The game will use open world game play with interactions with surrounding environments and a free-roaming ability. The environments will include frontier towns, prairies, and mountain passes and it will also involve the events leading up to the 1910 Mexican Revolution.
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Coming exclusively to the PC and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction is the highly anticipated sequel in the multimillion-selling Splinter Cell series and one of the most critically acclaimed Xbox franchises of all time. An investigation into his daughter’s death unwittingly leads former agent Sam Fisher to discover he’s been betrayed by his prior agency, the Third Echelon. Now a renegade, Fisher finds himself in a race against time to thwart a deadly terrorist plot that threatens millions.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
The Galactic Republic stood for generations as a bastion of peace in a galaxy of warring star systems. Starcraft 2
StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Gameplay will be similar to the first Super Mario Galaxy, with a focus on platforming based on and around 3D planets with varying sizes and landscapes. Power-ups such as the Bee Suit will be returning, along with the Launch Star for interplanetary navigation and the Airships operated by Bowser’s son Bowser Jr. The game’s debut trailer also revealed the return of familiar enemies from the series, such as the paragoomba, which were not present in the first game.
