MLG National Championships
The 2009 MLG Pro Circuit National Championships will go down January 8-10th in Orlando, FL at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Orlando will mark MLG’s 6th Pro Circuit and the first the National Championships to be held in Orlando, Fl. (You can read more on MLG the Early Years here and here). You will see top gaming superstars battling it out for the crown of 2009 Pro Circuit National Champions and $100,000 for Halo 3, $40,000 for Gears of War 2 and $15,000 for World of Warcarft (invite only to top WoW clans).
MLG Orlando will also play host to the EA SPORTS Challenge, which is your last chance to qualify for the EA National Championships set to take place at the Super Bowl in February, you can see more information on the EA SPORTS Challenge and purchase team passes for Halo 3, GoW2 and Madden NFL 10 here.
If you are not ready to compete in the MLG Pro Circuit you should still come and check out the event as a spectator. As a spectator you will get access to the MLG merchandise booth, where it’ll be easier than ever to get your hands on previously unreleased MLG gear, compete in exhibition matches and FFA competitions, open to all spectators, meet your favorite players, take pictures, and get autographs, gather alongside thousands of like-minded gamers and celebrate competitive gaming culture and get dozens of prizes and freebies, as well as take part in special events at all of our sponsor booths, including the makers of the Official MLG A-40 Headset, Astro Audio Systems (review here). The National Championships also house the MLG All Star Classic. Pro Players from both Pro Circuit games will be divided up, based on their hometowns, into two teams: the East All-Stars, and the West All-Stars. While several players pre-qualified for the teams based on their ranking, the remaining spots were voted on by the fans.
The 2009 MLG All-Star Classic will kick off on Friday, January 8th, at 6 pm ET. Watch as your favorite players go head to head in Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 in 14 total games! Be sure to check out the full rosters for each team here!
Halo 3 Predictions
Will Triggers Down continue to remain on top for three tournaments in a row? Or will Str8 Rippen finally get out of there slump and win the National Championships two years in a row? What about Instinct? On paper they are the best team in the league, but will they finally put it together and win a tournament? Here are my predictions on the 2009 MLG Pro Circuit National Championships!
1. Instinct – On paper they are the best. They have my favorite players on the team. Lunchbox and Roy deserve to win one!
2. Carbon – They preformed well last event… If they catch fire they will dominate.
3. Str8 Rippin – It’s hard to put the Orlando hometown 08 National Champions at 3rd…maybe if they invite Xoomu over to the Str8 house I’ll move them up.
4. Triggers Down – I just don’t like them. Haha.
5. Classic – I can see this team doing big things if they are all on the same page and on fire. BestManRaPeSsS!
6. Final Boss – Final Boss has been disappointing all season. I dont see them making it passed 5th place.
7. Believe the Hype – If they catch fire they are a strong top 4 contender…if the other teams are having an off day.
8. Swagger Like Us – Dersky and Coach Monstar will be staying with me for this event. THEY DESERVE TOP 8!
